We had an absolute blast hanging out at the bar, playing pool, and meeting tons of cool people from all over the world. We even joined in on the karaoke night and had a hilarious time belting out our favorite tunes. It was a non-stop party that made our vacation unforgettable!
If I had to ask for one thing, it would be for even more exciting activities for young party-goers like us. While the bar and events were awesome, it would have been epic to have some themed parties or organized pub crawls in the neighborhood.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast was better than average. Santiago is a large city, no location can be perfect, but la chimba is in a trendy artsy neighborhood and the subway is close enough that one can walk there without much of an effort.
Noise--not really la chimba's fault, bella vista in particular and south america in general come alive at night and there's street noise and bar/cabaret noise wherever you go, but if you are an early-to-bed sort of person bring ear plugs.

The location and the kitchen supplies
It was too cold. Usually I like cold weather (and I like sleeping in cold bedrooms) but it was too cold. Not only the bedrooms but also the living rooms.

We had a fantastic stay at La Chimba! The atmosphere was incredibly friendly, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The location was perfect, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The hostel was clean, and the bathrooms always had hot water. The well-equipped kitchen was a bonus, and there were lots of fun activities to join in on. Plus, we loved the beautiful artwork throughout the hostel. I'll highly recommend this hostel for a great stay in Santiago.

The location was nice: the Bellavista neighborhood is pretty cool to hang out for drinks and trying good food. The hostel had a nice decoration and the breakfast was good (cereals and toast). Staff members, in general, were helpful in giving us information about what to do in the city, but some of them didn't speak any English which was frustrating at times.
We got a room that was facing the street and it was very noisy Saturday night (loud music and people yelling) until 6am. The next 2 days the staff turned on loud music at 11pm. Our room was located right above the speakers and the whole floor was vibrating. We asked staff to turn the music down, and they did but it was still impossible to sleep, or even spend any peaceful time in our room. When we asked a second time the front desk guy said that he has to compromise between making the people who want to party happy and also keeping it quiet for those who want to sleep. The next day they were kind enough to move us to a room in the back of the hostel which was very quiet. While the first room was tiny - barely any space for luggage or a closet, the second was large and had plenty of space. So bottom line is that your experience will vary depending on your expectations (partying every night vs get some sleep) and the room you get. To guests, we recommend letting the staff know if you need to get sleep (i.e. if you have early flights or are leaving early for day trips like we did) so they can hopefully give you a quieter room. To staff we recommend avoiding putting guests in the room right above the reception as there is never a peaceful moment there.

As a solo traveler, I stayed at La Chimba for 4 nights. The hostel's convenient location made it easy to explore the city and experience the vibrant nightlife. The staff was welcoming and provided helpful recommendations for activities. The communal areas, including the kitchen and TV room, were well-maintained and provided a relaxed atmosphere. The showers were clean and always had hot water. La Chimba is a fun and lively hostel with a great vibe and friendly staff.
Can't recommend highly enough this hostel.

We got great value for our money at La Chimba. The room was comfortable and the location was perfect, right in the middle of an artsy and social district. The staff treated us very well and made our stay enjoyable.
The morning meal could have been better with a larger selection of food options.
